Bank of America Lobby – The Food Bank's light-filled lobby pays tribute to its founder, Kip Tiernan, whose grandmother fed the hungry in her home during the Great Depression. Upon leaving the home, visitors would mark the entrance with an "X" to indicate to those in need that it was a safe house. We proudly continue this tradition by displaying our own "X" at the main entrance to our facility.

Rufus Lester Warehouse – The 77,000 square-foot warehouse allows us to offer a broad assortment of food and grocery products to its member agencies. In addition, we have a state-of-the-art warehouse management system that enables staff to efficiently inventory products and pick agency orders.

Coolers & Freezers  – The two coolers (55º F & 35º F) and one freezer (0º F) enable us to accept more large-scale corporate donations of perishable items, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, milk and cheese, frozen meat, poultry, and seafood, all of which are important components of a nutritious diet.

Refrigerated Docks – Two refrigerated docks enable The Food Bank to receive perishable food products and keep them refrigerated from tractor-trailer to cooler. This also allows The Food Bank to store perishable items according to the highest food safety standards for member agencies until minutes before the orders are shipped.

Covered Loading Docks – Docks are designated as shipping or receiving to eliminate congestion and provide an uninterrupted flow of traffic for unloading and loading vehicles. The covered docks protect drivers and member agencies from inclement weather. When The Food Bank is not operational, doors enclose the space, securing The Food Bank's fleet of vehicles.

The Roche Family Marketplace – This is a dedicated on-site shopping area for member agencies to acquire items that may not appear on the online shopping list. This may include additional produce, miscellaneous frozen products, short-coded perishable food products, partial case items, and non-food grocery products such as mops and brooms.

State Street Foundation Volunteer Room – This room allows volunteers to participate in sorting reclaimed food products from food drives and local supermarkets in a safe, efficient, and sanitary environment. The facility blends modern technology in an ergonomically-designed work space that is also well-lit to promote a positive and fun volunteer experience.

Liberty Mutual Gallery – Visitors to The Food Bank can view the vast warehouse and day-to-day operations from a safe distance above the warehouse floor while learning about hunger in eastern Massachusetts and how to become involved in the fight against hunger.

Weinberg Roof Terrace – Above Boston's bustling Newmarket neighborhood, The Food Bank's roof terrace provides staff with an urban oasis of sun and fresh air. It is also the perfect place for The Food Bank to hold receptions for invited guests.
